Transmission Festival, 4-6 July 2008, Fortress Kufstein in Tyrol

16.6.2008

For the first time the Transmission Festival - an European music, art and multimedia event - will be held from 4 to 6 July 2008 at the Fortress Kufstein in Tyrol.

A well chosen and adapted combination of live music, visual art, multimedia shows, workshops and film shows will offer the audience a complete audiovisual experience.

"Our target is to position the Transmission Festival as an outstanding art and cultural event in Europe for the audience and for the artists and to hold it in the future annually here at the Fortress Kufstein" emphazises the festival director, Niamh Burkeneff, who has been working in the music branch for the last 15 years and has excellent contacts.

From the stylistic point of view there are no limits - but a high demand is made to the quality of the programme - "Class before mass" is the clearly defined motto. The artists were chosen specifically according to the target groups - ambitious, culturally and politically excellent representatives of the various scenes.

Quality of music and visuals come in the first place of the programme. Live music will be played up to 10 hours daily - carefully selected and suitable to the atmosphere of the fortress.

During the entire festival Transmission will offer visitors and protagonists several art exhibitions in different locations in the city of Kufstein. The famous Spanish artist Antonio Seijas will show some of his illustrations. Another exhibition is dedicated to the Indian DJ and photographer Talvin Singh who lives in London. As part of the (art) film programme there will be shown the oscar awarded (best song) and grammy nominated film "Once" as well as the documentation film "Heima" of the Icelandic band "Sigur Rós", whose film director Dean DeBlois was nominated for the oscar.

12.000 tickets will be for sale during the three event days, day tickets and festival tickets will be offered. A day ticket costs ? 39,- at the booking office, the festival ticket for all three days costs ? 95,- on www.oeticket.com

After the end of the concert at the fortress at 11.30 p.m. there will be a fringe club - "Transmission after Dark" at the KUFA (Kulturfabrik Kufstein) as well as at the Innotech.

Participants from Iceland will be the artists Jóhann Jóhannsson, Ólafur Arnalds and the groupe Parachutes.
