Ambassador Sigríður Anna Þórðardóttir takes office
On September 15 2008 Ambassador Sigríður Anna Þórðardóttir presented her credentials to Michaëlle Jean, Governor General of Canada. Ambassador Þórðardóttir (right) is the first woman to serve as an ambassador to Canada since the establishment of the embassy in 2001. Besides Canada, the jurisdiction of the embassy covers the following countries: Belize, Bolivia, Ecuador, Honduras, Costa Rica, Colombia, Panama, Peru, Uruguay, Venezuela and Nicaragua.
