Iceland contributes to humanitarian assistance in Darfur
Approximately one-third of the amount will be channelled to the Icelandic Church Aid for operations organized and financed by international church organziations. The remaining 0,2 million USD will be donated to the UN´s World Food Program emergency operation in Darfur. Recently, the situation in Darfur has been deteriorating. According to UN´s estamates, there are more than 2 million refugees and dislocated persons in the region due to the ongoing conflict.
