Mr. Bjarni Benediktsson, member of Althingi, visted Japan in September
Mr. Benediktsson, who is serving his first term on Althingi, representing the Independent Party came to Japan at the invitation of the Japanese Foreign Ministry.
Mr. Benediktsson stayed in Japan for one week in which he was introdcued to various aspects of Japanese important policy matters as well as exchanging views on current bilateral affairs between Japan and Iceland.
Mr. Benediktsson serves as the Chairman of the General Committee of Althingi and he serves also on the Foreign Relations Committee as well as being a member of the EFTA Parliamentary Committee.
During his stay in Japan Mr. Benediktsson had the opportunity to meet and to discuss with Japanese Officials from various ministries and was hosted by Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Kiyohiko TOYAMA on behalf of MOFA.
