Icelandic Dance Company in Brooklyn, NY

The Iceland Dance Company is proud to announce its first US tour. The tour has been initiated and organized by Baylin Artists Management in Doylestown, Pennsylvania.
The Company has travelled extensively in Europe in recent years, in over 30 cities, toured in Canada in 2001 and went on its first tour to China earlier this year.
The Iceland Dance Company (Id) will perform several pieces from its repertoire in the US. They will perform on November 10th at the Brooklyn Center for the performing arts, Brooklyn College, 2900 Campus Road, Broolklyn, NY 11210
About the company
Iceland Dance Company is the national dance company of Iceland. It consists of twelve dancers who have a versatile background in training and experience, retaining a pronounced individuality.
The company has consistently built a repertoire of choreography by many of Europe’s leading modern choreographers. ID has developed relationships with these leading European artists, all of which are eager to come back and create new work for the company. Parallel, ID, has lead the development of Icelandic choreography and nurtured the talent of Icelandic choreographers who have received attention from abroad during this period. The combination of these two developments has created a unique position for ID on the international dance market. Not only does it hold a repertoire of choreography by Europe ´s best but also the talent of new emerging Icelandic choreographers, hosting an element of excitement and surprise for a market always on the search for new discoveries
Rui Horta, Jirí Kylián, Didy Veldman, Jo Stromgren, Jochen Ulrich, Richard Wherlock, Itzak Galili and Jorma Uotinen are among those who have worked with and been commissioned to create new work for the company as well as Icelandic choregraphers Erna Ómarsdóttir, Lára Stefánsdóttir and Ólöf Ingólfsdóttir, to name a few. Id´s artistic director is Katrín Hall.
Iceland Dance Company has given numerous outstanding performances in major international dance theaters and festivals worldwide including the Holland Dance Festival, the VIA International Arts Festival in France, Les Hivernales in Avignon, France and Harbourfront in Toronto as well as important performances in Beirut, Prague, Copenhagen, Brussels, Glasgow, Geneva, Vienna and Berlin. Id offes an annual season of performances at the City Theatre in their home city of Reykjavík.
