New Coalition Government Formed
A new coalition government was formed between Sjálfstæðisflokkur (Independence Party) and Samfylkingin (The Alliance). The new government conveened for the first time today at Bessastadir, the Presidential Residence.

The new goverment consists of twelve Ministers:
Prime Minister: Mr. Geir H. Haarde
Minister for Foreign Affairs: Mrs. Ingibjörg Sólrún Gísladóttir
Minister of Education: Mrs. Þorgerður Katrín Gunnarsdóttir
Minister of Industry: Mr. Össur Skarphéðinsson
Minister of Finance: Mr. Árni M. Mathiesen
Minister of Social Affairs: Mrs. Jóhanna Sigurðardóttir
Minister of Justice & Ecclesiastical Affairs: Mr. Björn Bjarnasson
Minister of Environment: Mrs. Þórunn Sveinbjarnadóttir
Minister of Fisheries & Agriculture: Mr. Einar K. Guðfinnsson
Minister of Commerce: Mr. Björgvin G. Sigurðsson
Minister of Health & Social Security: Mr. Guðlaugur Þ. Þórðarson
Minister of Communications: Mr. Kristján L. Möller
