President of Iceland gives testimony on geothermal energy before the US Senate's Energy Committee
H.E. Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson, President of the Republic of Iceland, today gave a testimony before the US Senate’s Energy Committee on the potential of geothermal energy as a source of renewable energy. The hearing was held to receive testimony on a Bill to establish a National Geothermal Initiative and was chaired by Senator Jeff Bingaman of New Mexico, chairman of the Senate’s Energy Committee. In his testimony, President Grímsson discussed Iceland’s experience in harnessing geothermal energy and identified areas where Iceland and the United States could cooperate to increase the use of geothermal energy in the U.S.
