Credentials presented in Botswana
On 27 February 2007, Dr. Sigridur Duna Kristmundsdottir, Ambassador of Iceland, presented her Credentials to His Exellency Mr. Festus G. Mogae, President of Botswana, as Ambassador of Iceland to Botswana with residence in South Africa.
The Ambassador also held meetings with the Foreign Minister of Botswana, Mr. Mompate S. Merafhe. The Ambassador gave thanks to Botswana for its support to Iceland’s candidature to the United Nations Security Council as well as the friendship that had endured between the two countries over the past years.
From Botswana a further interest was indicated to have more business association with Iceland and the making of a bilateral Free Trade Agreement is well developed between the two countries.
Trúnaðarbréf afhent í Botswana
Þann 27. febrúar síðastliðinn afhenti dr. Sigríður Dúna Kristmundsdóttir, sendiherra, Festus G. Mogae, forseta Botswana, trúnaðarbréf sitt sem sendiherra Íslands gagnvart Botswana.
Einnig átti sendiherra fund með utanríkisráðherra Botswana, Mompate S. Merafhe. Sendiherra þakkaði Botswana stuðning ríkisins við framboð Íslands til öryggisráðsins og þá vináttu sem um árabil hefði ríkt á milli ríkjanna.
Fram kom að Botswanamenn hafa áhuga á auknum viðskiptum við Íslands og er tvíhliða fríverslunarsamningur í burðarliðnum.
